Planting requirements

Each peony root is unique in size and shape, but rest assured—all will have 3–5 strong eyes, ready to grow into beautiful blooms.
We recommend planting your peony roots in the garden as soon as possible after they arrive. If you need a little more time, simply store them in a cool, dark place (the refrigerator is perfect) and aim to plant within two weeks.
Your roots will arrive dormant—without foliage—which is completely normal for fall planting. With a bit of patience and care, they'll reward you for seasons to come.
Peonies may take 2 years to begin blooming, but once established, they’ll produce more flowers each season—and can thrive in the same spot for generations.
